Afro:Baile on September 18th is set to bring you the “1st annual “Brazilian Day Arizona” event; a celebration of Brazil’s Independence Day! This festive event known widely as “Brazilian Day” is a worldwide spectacle celebrating the essence of the Brazilian culture while igniting a grand celebration of new life, fanfare and excitement. The 1st Annual Brazilian Day event will include Brazilian culture in live music, dance, art, visuals and eclectic performances!.

Festivities on the night will be a must see and do as the evening will host live music & performances from some of the Best Brazilian artists from Rio de Janeiro (Br), Sao Paulo (Br), Los Angeles (CA), and Phoenix (AZ). The airwaves will be filled with traditional upbeat Afro-Brazilian rhythms including Samba, Axé, Forro, Samba-Reggae, Baile Funk and Pagode!

::GRUPO BRASILIDADE::
(Rio de Janerio, Brazil's) premier Brazilian “Pagode” band - lead by band leader & Unica Samba School director; Flavio Ribeiro. For over 12 years Grupo Brasilidade (currently residing in Los Angeles, CA) has toured the U.S. bringing their dynamic stage show to various cities and festivals while igniting the sounds of Brazil through Samba and Rio’s decorated sound called Pagode. The word BRASILIDADE (pronounced BRA-ZEEL-EE-DAH-GEE), in a technical point of view, means "Brazilness." On the other hand, on a metaphorical view, it means something with Brazilian spirit. Once you know Brazilian culture and/or experience the Brazilian lifestyle, you begin to understand and enjoy this feeling called BRASILIDADE.

::SOM BRASIL::
Band Is one of the most traditional and fusion styled bands out of (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in years. Led by singer / songwriter Marcos Martins and his eclectic 4-pieces band SomBrazil has routinely pushed the card creating a raw style of its own, fusing musical influences of its traditional Brazilian roots north to south and everything in between. Not your typical band sticking in one genre, SomBrazil, takes you on a journey playing music of their influences of Afro-Brazilian roots ranging from the beautiful sounds of Bossa Nova, to Samba-Reggae & Axe from the Bahia, Funk from Rio de Janeiro & traditional music know as “MPB” Popular Brazilian Music and of course the pounding drum beat of carnival style celebrations.

::DJ SEDUCE::
Over the course of 9 years, DJ Seduce (Phoenix, AZ) has shared the stage with legendary icons, played to crowds of more than 14,000, released his critically acclaimed debut album, "Foreign Affair. Vol. 1" and launched the award winning "Afro:Baile" world music event. His continued strive to bring a cultural groove to the forefront, has allowed him to push his way to new heights. Some of his recent & notable accolade's include: 4 consecutive nominations for "Best DJ" by the "Arizona Republic" & "Best Jazz" by the "Phoenix Newtimes. He's also been a featured guest, and performed live on Good Morning Arizona (3TV), and has an extensive list of featured articles & reviews in over 15 magazine publications.

::DANILELE VOSLER::
Brazilian Belly Dancer from of (Sao Paulo, Brazil)). Daniele will be performing and hosting the 1st Annual Brazilian Samba Queen Contest. The Samba Queen contest will consist of ladies who sign up to dance and perform samba. The judging will be based on Samba Dance, Energy, Crowd interaction, performance and crowd participation. The winner will be crowned the official Samba Queen of Arizona 2010.


::GRUPO AXE CAPOEIRA:: (Recife Brazil) A live Capoeira Show will be held with their 20 plus members demonstrating the age old technique of Brazilian martial arts & dance. The Group continues to travel around the world and participate in competitions and has participated in the 2001 International Capoeira Competition in Argentina. Furthermore, Grupo Axé Capoeira is renowned as a traveling group which promotes the history, music, art, and culture of Brazil in interactive and educational demonstrations. Grupo Axe Capoeira was the first group in Arizona to open a Capoeira Academy & Dance Culture Center in 2003.
